Utao contemplates the forest and the meaning of family

Utao contemplates the forest, the meaning of family, and cake.

The siblings Kuga really have some father. Kyohei’s like, “Don’t you want to know about your own child?!” and he’s all, “Nah, I ain’t gonna’ let bad news ruin my day!” Overall I found this to be a pretty well done, but slightly boring explanatory episode of Kamisama Dolls.

Moyako Somaki long shot yelling

I liked her immediately.

You know what I was thinking while watching the opening? Why couldn’t they have worked the creepy folk music into the OP song? I dig the Spanish flavor and I even bust out a little samba each week, but something similar to the kakashi sounds could have tied the show together in a more complete fashion.

Aki and Akita in flashback

Aki has an Akita.

Leaving the music aside, the main trio of Kyohei, Utao and Hibino are now at the village. They stop at the Kuga residence where we first see Kyohei and Utao’s parents. Shortly after that we meet the lively Moyako and Yurako who are from the (supposedly) neutral family of kakashi repairmen.

While at their workshop we learn much about the kakashi. Not anything important like why they exist or what their purpose is, but instead, what they’re made of. Great. While walking through the enchanted forest (where the trees communicate) with Moyako, Hibino catches a glimpse of one of her memories. It’s of a white-haired boy with 99% chance of probability of it being Aki. She then cries.

Moyako complete and utter sibling domination.

Some other stuff happens in non-specific order. They fix Kukuri and Utao takes him out for a test ride. We see Kirio, the twin, who is now staying with Koshiro and his wife. Utao gets some funny “big sister” advise from Moyako, before the three visitors head back home. Really? That’s all we learn from the village? Yup, that’s it.

KidKonseptual's Thoughts
Hated the father. The mother was, well, motherly. Did anyone know before watching this episode, that hairstyles were genetic? I never knew, but it wouldn’t be the only strange thing in Kakami village. I really like Moyako who feels (like Koshiro) to be a really well-rounded character.

She’s most likely the girl from Kyohei’s flashback in the very first scene in the series, which would indicate a pretty deep history between herself, Aki and Kyohei. I think she’s 100 times better than Hibino who seems like she’s in the show mainly for “breast relief,” which is like comedy relief mixed with fan-service.

Hibino provides Breast Relief.

So I like her. She’s funny. Her little sister I’m hoping falls into a big vat of Kamu no Chi. Stupid resin. If I was a writer on this show, Moyako would have said, “Yeah, we discovered this magical liquid out back and we make and control kick-ass robots with it.” Clear, concise and with the term “magic” you don’t need to go further. It’s made up and magical after all.

I was really thinking we’d learn a lot more from their stay in the village, which I thought would be longer than just this one episode. There’s so much we don’t know, including the overall reason the kakashi exist. It does look like we’ll see some more stuff revealed next week though. I don’t know about you, but I’m firmly with the Kamisama Dolls program at this point.

When Utao was hanging from What’s-Her-Face’s panties I was like “omg I’m going to see her bush” but then all I got to see was her fall into some bushes which was harder to masturbate to but I managed.
