Run Tooru Yuuko and Nagi in snow

Random thought: Scut Farkus is the anti-A-Channel.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow. The chilly weather and snowfall in A-Channel’s 10th episode was a nice change from the 90 degree weather here in Long Island Town and although it was an anti-beach episode the fan service still piled up.

The Trash will play while Tooru is away.

In the first segment of the show, Tooru finds a kitten abandoned in an alley. She later invites the girls over to see the little guy. Run’s imagined scene of the scattered garbage was smile-inducing and of course the three fawn over the kitten. After escorting Yuuko-idol and Nagi back to the station Tooru and Run get some grub where Run, once again using her expert powers of logic, decides on a name for the cat.

As a cat friend myself and having kittens over the years I felt for Tooru as she gets ready for and finally leaves for school. It’s hard to say goodbye when they’re new. She meets up with Run and they head to school where there’s much buzz centering around a snowy forecast. Syrup, lol. Of course, It finally does snow and the girls go bananas.

If I had to, say with a gun pointed at me, identify with any one character, it would be Nagi. Her hatred of all things enthusiastic strikes a chord with me. Also, pertaining to this episode, her dislike of the cold. More accurate would be the dislike of extreme temperature in either direction, as she also complained about the heat during the summer.

She eventually gets on board with the others and the four have snowball fights, and generally anime it up with their merriment. Of course after a day playing in the snow they all catch dreaded colds.

Thoughts:

I enjoyed the ending after the credits, as well as some little touches here and there throughout the show. Nagi and Run pronouncing all the exotic names from Tooru’s manga list and Tooru stomping on ice were nice slice of life moments. Yuuko-doll was of course stunning in her winter ensemble.

Once again, there was a creepy background song accompanying the fan service segment. You would think, (without seeing the show) that with the content of the lyrics and the general tone of these songs, the anime would feature grade school girls, I mean, “Happy happy snow day”?

By looking at the last two show titles, “Birthday – Allow me” and “Alien” it would appear there won’t be a New Years/Christmas episode, which surprises me a bit. Overall a pretty standard episode, and in my opinion slightly more enjoyable than the beach episode earlier this season.
